The New Black AI Now Allows Shopify Merchants to Improve Their Product Page Optimization

Published 16 September 2026

A Shopify product page either converts or it does not, and the reasons are usually mundane: two photos instead of six, no video, empty alt texts, a description written in a hurry, no category. The New Black AI now scores each of your product pages on those points and lets you fix them without leaving the studio.

A score on every product

Open the Shopify view of the studio and your store products appear. Next to each product name sits a score button. It rates the page on what actually moves a fashion listing: photos, video, alt texts, title, description, SEO fields, category and product type.

The score is not a vanity number. Each line tells you what is missing, and each line is fixable from the panel it opens in.

Fix it in place, and it saves to Shopify

Open the score and you get a control panel for that product page. Rewrite the title or the description. Set the category. Tick a collection. Put the product on sale or send it back to draft. Send a photo to HD, or turn it into a video, in one click.

Every change is saved to your Shopify store as you leave the field. There is no export step, no copy and paste between two tabs, and no risk of a corrected description sitting in a tool nobody publishes from.

Why a fashion catalogue drifts

Most stores do not have a product problem, they have a hundred product pages built at different moments by different people. The first drop was photographed properly; the restock was not. The bestseller has a video; the rest of the line does not. Alt texts were filled for a season and then forgotten.

A score per page turns that drift into a list. You work the worst scores first, and the ones that matter most, rather than auditing a catalogue by hand.

What is coming

The Performance score, which shows sales and conversion per product, is on its way. Sales data is already readable in the studio for merchants who enable it, so the two will sit side by side: how good the page is, and what it earns.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to leave the studio to fix a product page?+

No. The score opens a panel where you edit the text, the category, the collection and the status, and where you can send a photo to HD or to video. Changes save to Shopify as you go.

What does the score look at?+

Photos, video, alt texts, title, description, SEO fields, category and product type. These are the fields Shopify and Google both read, and the ones a shopper notices first.

Does it change my product without asking?+

No. Nothing is modified until you edit a field yourself. The score only reads the page and tells you what is thin.
