Google Images and Discover for Shopify: The New Black AI

Published 28 September 2026

Search Console's main report counts clicks from Google's web results, and that is where most Shopify SEO advice stops. For a fashion brand, two other doors matter: Google Images, where the photo is the result, and Discover, the feed on phones. The New Black AI's Store puts them beside the web figures, with two more readings a merchant rarely sees: how much of the search traffic knew the brand already, and the store's authority.

The three cards above the SEO tables

CardWhat it tells youSource
Google Images and DiscoverClicks and impressions from image search and the Discover feed, with the pages images send people toSearch Console
Brand shareThe clicks of searches naming your brand against the rest: the non-brand part is new customers finding youSearch Console
Authority and backlinksYour domain's authority and its referring links, dofollow share includedAhrefs data

Every card compares with the previous period and follows the Store's country filter. Search Console trails by about three days, so the latest days fill in as Google reports them.

How it works

1. Connect Google Search Console in Connectors, with the account that owns your store's property. 2. Open Store › Traffic › SEO: the three cards, then your queries and pages with clicks, impressions and position, each query with the page Google sends it to. 3. Fix what the figures point at: a product page with image impressions and weak photos gets new visuals from the studio; a subject with no page gets one from Store › Content.

Why it matters for a fashion brand

Clothes are chosen with the eyes, and a good share of fashion searches happen in Google Images. A store whose only report is web clicks does not see that door, nor whether its search traffic is growing beyond people who already know the name. The brand share answers the question every small brand asks: is search bringing me new customers, or only my own?

The whole Search Console reading is on Google Search Console for Shopify stores; the visits from AI assistants are in ChatGPT traffic to your Shopify store.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see Google Images clicks for my Shopify store?+

Yes. The Store's SEO view shows clicks and impressions from Google Images and the pages they lead to.

What is the brand share?+

The clicks of searches that name your brand or your store's address, against all the others. The others are people who found you without knowing you.

Does it show Google Discover traffic?+

Yes, clicks and impressions from Discover, compared with the previous period.

Why are the last days missing?+

Search Console reports with about three days of delay; the figures fill in as Google publishes them.

Where does the authority figure come from?+

From Ahrefs data on your domain: its authority and its referring domains.

Does connecting Search Console change anything on my site?+

No. The connection only reads your property's data.
