How to Make a Fashion Lookbook: The New Black AI

Published 1 October 2026

A fashion lookbook is a short, edited book of photographs that shows a collection the way the brand wants it seen: whole outfits, in one mood, in a chosen order. Making one takes seven steps, from deciding who it is for to sending the link. This guide walks through them, with what each step needs and where AI saves the most time.

What a lookbook is for

A lookbook is not a catalogue. A catalogue lists every product with its price; a lookbook tells the story of a season in a few pages and makes people want to see more. Brands send it to buyers before a wholesale meeting, to press and stylists, to their own customers before a drop, and they link it from the store and the Instagram bio.

How to make a fashion lookbook in 7 steps

1. Decide who it is for

A buyer wants every key piece and a line on fabrics; a customer wants the mood and a link to buy; press wants five strong images. Write the reader down before choosing a single photo.

2. Edit the collection into looks

Choose eight to twenty looks, each a complete outfit. Fewer, stronger looks make a better book than every product once.

3. Fix one visual direction

Same model or same cast, same light, same set, same colour grade. A lookbook reads as one shoot or it reads as a folder. With AI, keep it consistent by reusing one model reference and one scene description for every look in the AI models studio.

4. Shoot or generate the images

For each look: one full-length shot, one closer shot that shows the fabric or a detail, and if the book is for buyers, the piece on its own. An AI model shot costs 1 credit on Standard AI or 3 on PRO AI, so a twenty-look book with three images per look costs 60 credits on Standard instead of a shoot day.

5. Lay out the pages

One look per page, or two facing looks per spread. Leave white space. Put the cover look first and the strongest one at the centre spread. Pick one page format, portrait for a phone, landscape for a screen, and keep it for the whole book.

6. Write little

A title page with the season and the collection name, a short paragraph on the idea, and under each look the names of the pieces. Prices only in a buyer's version.

7. Publish it, then share it

A PDF is still what buyers ask for; an online lookbook with its own link is what customers open. Put the link in the store, the bio and the newsletter.

The Lookbook builds the book from the creations already in your studio: choose a page format, lay your images across the pages, reorder the spreads by dragging, preview it exactly as readers will see it, and publish it online with its own link. Every account can make two lookbooks for free.

Lookbook ideas that work

  • The single location: every look in the same street, studio or landscape, shot at the same hour.
  • The colour story: looks ordered from light to dark, or grouped by the palette of the season.
  • Product and worn, side by side: the piece flat on the left page, worn on the right.
  • The drop teaser: five looks, no prices, a date on the last page.

Frequently asked questions

How many looks should a lookbook have?+

Between eight and twenty for a seasonal collection. A drop teaser can work with five; a buyer's book can run longer with each key piece shown.

What size should a fashion lookbook be?+

Choose by where it will be read: portrait pages for phones and print, landscape for screens and presentations, square for a book that also feeds Instagram. Keep one format for the whole book.

Can I make a lookbook without a photoshoot?+

Yes. Generate each look on an AI model from your product photos, with one model and one setting for the whole collection, then lay them out in the Lookbook.

What is a digital lookbook?+

A lookbook published online with its own link instead of printed. It opens on any phone, can be updated after it is sent, and can link each look to the store.

Is the Lookbook free?+

Every account can make two lookbooks and publish them online for free. The images inside use credits when you generate them in the studio.
