London Fashion Week 2024
22 February 2024
London Fashion Week 2024 was a vibrant celebration of innovation, creativity, and fashion forward thinking. Designers pushed at the edges of their collections this year, offering a look at where fashion is going while paying attention to where it came from. The themes on show ranged from the lives of historical figures to a reworking of very contemporary aesthetics.
Erdem and the life of Maria Callas
Erdem presented a collection built as a tribute to Maria Callas, exploring the push and pull between dressed and undressed states. The looks included extravagant silk pajamas, heavily embroidered floral opera capes, and rich satin dresses cut with Grecian folds, capturing something of Callas' life and career through clothing.
Molly Goddard on color and volume
Molly Goddard brought color and volume to the front of her collection, with the work concentrated on texture, volume, and the development of silhouette. The references mixed 1960s fashion icons with quirky children's wear, and the designs read as a playful exploration of what fashion can do when it sets out to express joy.

Roksanda between fashion and architecture
Roksanda's collection was a masterclass in color play, sculptural detail, and the meeting of fashion with art and architecture. The inspiration came from Le Corbusier's Le Cabanon and Eileen Gray's E-1027 house, and the results made the case for simplicity and for what happens when creative disciplines are allowed to blend.

The rest of the lineup
The week also carried collections from designers working in very different registers. JW Anderson showed wearable art pieces with inflated tops and trousers covered in feathers. Simone Rocha put together a lineup that celebrated nuptial beauty through tiered coats and gowns finished with mega bows and rose bouquets. Burberry, under Daniel Lee's direction, worked with tactile florals and deep earth tones and returned to the house's trench coat with a new reading of it.

The conversations around the shows
Beyond the collections, London Fashion Week 2024 set the stage for discussions on diversity, sustainability, and how the industry itself is changing. Between live shows and digital presentations, the week confirmed London's standing as a global fashion capital, a city able to honor its heritage and lead on contemporary design at the same time.
