AI Fashion Design Prompts, 30 Examples: The New Black AI

A fashion design prompt is the sentence the generator reads before it draws: the garment, its cut, its fabric, its colours, its details, and the way it is shown. The difference between a first try and a fifth is almost always in that sentence. This guide gives the nine rules, then thirty prompts that work, taken from the ideas the studio itself proposes, and a table of the words that change the result the most.

The nine rules

1. Say the garment first. "A cropped bomber jacket" before anything else; the model anchors on the first noun. 2. Name the construction. Raglan sleeves, a standing collar, bonded seams, a two-way zip: construction words are what a fashion model knows and a general one does not. 3. Name the fabric and its surface. Scuba, organza, ribbed knit, lacquered, crinkled, frosted: the surface word does more than the colour word. 4. Give the colours as a palette, two or three, and where they go: "sky blue with a chalk-white collar". 5. Say how it is shown: product only on white, front and back, on a model, full length, waist-up, the angle. 6. Add one design word: sculptural, avant-garde, minimal, haute couture. One, not four. 7. Give a reference image when you have one: the shape of one garment, the print of another, the light of a photo. The image carries what words cannot. 8. Leave room: fewer words, more invention; more words, more control. Decide which you want before typing. 9. Say what must not change when you edit: "keep the dress exactly as it is, change only the background".

The words that change the result most

When the prompt is not the problem

A small product that fills the input image comes out too large on the model: give the photo margins. A print that drifts: give it as a reference image, not as words. A face that repeats: describe the person (age, origin, one distinctive feature). And the same prompt gives a different result each time by design; generate three and choose.
