Shopify Inventory: Stock, Days of Stock, Cost per Item

The New Black AI reads a Shopify fashion brand's inventory on the Store page: for every product, the stock left, how many days it lasts at the pace of the last thirty days of sales, the units sold over those thirty days, and the cost per item, which you can type here and which is written straight to Shopify.

How it works

1

Open Store › Products › Inventory

One line per product: stock, days of stock, units sold in thirty days, cost per item. A store installed before this version sees an Enable button first, to grant the inventory scopes.

2

Read the days of stock

Stock divided by the daily pace of the last thirty days. A product that has not sold shows no figure rather than a false one.

3

Type the cost per item

The field is Shopify's own unit cost, the one its margin reports use. Type it on the product line and it goes to every variant; a product whose variants carry different costs opens on its variants.

Why it matters

Shopify has a Days of inventory remaining report, and most stores never fill the cost per item, so their margin reports stay empty. Here the cost is an always-visible input next to the stock, and it feeds the Profit & loss of the same Store page.

Read more in Shopify days of stock and cost per item. The Store page is where it lives.
