Remove Image Details Effortlessly with AI
6 August 2024
Cleaning up a visual has become part of everyday work for content creators and marketers, and AI has made it a matter of seconds rather than an afternoon of manual retouching. This guide walks through the practical side of it: how to take an unwanted detail out of an image so the picture reads cleaner and holds attention where you want it.

Open the retouching tools
Start by opening the studio panel with the "Retouch" button. You can also click directly on the image and pick the retouch option from there. Either route opens the same set of tools, built for precise changes on a single area rather than a global filter pass.
Upload the image you want to work on
Load the image you intend to edit. Having the right file ready matters more than it sounds: the whole session is built around that one picture, and once it is uploaded you can start masking the parts you want removed.
Mask the element you want gone
Take the brush tool and paint over the section to eliminate. Say you want a belt off an outfit: brush across the belt. Once the mask is in place, describe the element in the text field, in this case simply "belt".
The AI usually needs 10 to 15 seconds. When it comes back, the belt is gone and the garment underneath looks like it was never interrupted.
Remove several details in a row
The same loop repeats for anything else you want out of the frame. Buttons on the same piece, for instance: mask them, name them, wait. Edits stack, so a single image can go through several passes until it matches what you had in mind.
Replace instead of delete
Removal is only half of the panel. If you would rather add something, a gold belt where the old one was, use the "Replace" section rather than "Delete". You mask the same way and describe the element you want to see there instead, and the new piece is composed into the image with the surrounding light and fabric respected. The full range of that workflow is covered on the AI retouching page.
What this changes in practice
Masking and replacing are two small techniques, but together they cover most of what an image needs before it goes out. There is nothing to learn beyond pointing at an area and naming what should be there. If you want the longer version of the cleanup side, with objects, text and background clutter, see how to erase and remove image details with AI.
Try it on one image
Pick a photo with a detail that has always bothered you and take it out. Open the AI fashion studio, upload the image, and start with the brush.
